Springsteen concert!
What can I say, the show was amazing from the off with the by now ubiqutous "Is there anyobody ALIVE out there" kicking off "Radio Nowhere". Bruce himself was in great shape blasting from one song to the next almost a little too fast for my liking, it seemed as though he was afraid that if he relaxed then we wouldn't get started again, but such complaints are mere niggles.
The main setlist flew by without too many surprises, perhaps the only real one being the substitution of "Cadillac ranch" for "Backstreets", a choice that annoyed me when I found out about it after the show. As they say, one man's coffee is another man's tea etc...
The magical point where Bruce and the band's energy finally managed to get the (as usual) pretty reticent Norwegian crowd on to their feet was the transition from "Long walk home" into "Badlands"; after that there was never any doubt that we would remain standing for the rest of the show. The singing at the end of "Badlands" carried the band over their little break in much the same way as "Pay me my money down" did on the Seeger sessions tour, and the encores were just one triumph after another. Even "Born to run", for so long one of my "here we go again" moments during the concerts seemed completely fresh and the crowd went absolutely bananas.
Other than that, what can one say apart from that it was another sterling performance from the "heart stopping, earth rocking, booty shaking, viagra taking, history making, legendary E- street band!"
..oh yeah, the show was over WAY to fast, and that meant that I had to go home and buy tickets for Milan since they went on sale at midnight last night. I ended in bed at 2:30 am, drained, tired, blissfully happy and joyous that I'd scored at least one more concert with the guys.
